Who is Ben?

Hi, I'm Ben, a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP). I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Calgary and a Master of Counselling degree in Counselling Psychology from Athabasca University. Born and raised in Calgary, I have called Central Alberta or Red Deer home for the past nine years.

Taking the first step toward seeking help can be daunting, but you should be proud of making this choice—I know I am. It’s common to feel overwhelmed, isolated, or stuck in negative thought patterns that impact your daily life and overall well-being. If you’re grappling with feelings of low self-worth, persistent sadness, or chronic stress, and find it challenging to manage your emotions or maintain healthy relationships, know that change is possible.

My passion for Sport and Performance psychology stems from both my professional background and my personal experiences. Having spent years in athletics and now raising two young athletes, I understand the unique pressures they face—from competition anxiety to maintaining motivation. I believe that mental resilience is just as crucial as physical training, and I am dedicated to helping individuals harness their mental strength to enhance performance and well-being.

My expertise includes brief short-term counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Behavioural Activation therapy, and Narrative therapy. I focus on integrating principles of performance psychology into my practice, helping clients develop mental strategies that promote focus, resilience, and emotional regulation—essential skills for both sports and daily life.

Remember, you don’t have to navigate this journey alone. Whether you seek clarity, support, or simply someone safe to talk to, I’m here to help you find relief and reclaim your life. I look forward to speaking with you soon!
